To put a background on Google Docs, open your document and click on "File" in the top menu. Select "Page setup," where you’ll find an option for "Page color." Choose your desired background color and click "OK." Unfortunately, Google Docs doesn’t support images as backgrounds, but color choices are available for visual appeal.
